Over the past 7 to 9 years, the image of gaming has changed drastically. While Gaming was a source of fun before it has now become one of the largest growing fields in the world. Gaming in the West has shifted the paradigm. The new online streaming platforms such as Twitch, Youtube Gaming and Facebook Gaming have seen a rapid increase in the viewership of these streamers. Competitive Gaming is at its all time high right now, multiple tournaments are being held everyday. However as big as the industry is in the West, it is yet to take off in Pakistan. The awareness about gaming in Pakistan is still not there. It is still considered a distraction and something which is spoiling the children. The regular bans on some of the games isn't helping either in creating a positive image of Gaming in Pakistan. Being a gamer is not considered to be a respectable profession in our society and therefore almost no one takes these games too seriously. When there is a whole industry which is growing every day on the other side of the world, we are still not in that process of accepting that games do indeed offer a lot more than just games. It's still early days but I hope that we will soon realize the potential that is their in gaming so that our future generation can be a part of this revolution.
